Free to play games are hot these days. With the small amount of games available through Xbox Live you might think that Microsoft has no plans in that direction unlike Sony. But with World of Tanks on the horizon and Spartacus Legends available as of today you can start thinking differently.
Spartacus Legends gets its art and content straight from the popular Starz TV show. The game is all about the details: you’ll fight in arena’s that are straight from the show and you can see Spartacus and other actors from the cast. One detail they haven’t forgotten is the amount of blood and gore.
The graphics in this game are nothing like The Last of Us or Gears of War but hey; it’s a free to play title right? Spartacus Legends is a fighting game featuring several different styles of combat who feel quite different. You have dual swords, dual daggers, two handed hammer, spear & shield, sword & shield, trident and unarmed. You’ll gain experience and silver or gold after each mission. You’ll also gain fame which is used to unlock better venues where you receive better rewards.
Gold is something special in Spartacus Legends. You may get it from completing missions or you have the option to purchase some for real money. This is used to buy boosts and better equipment for your character. Just your ordinary cash shop.
You also can play as some of the characters from the show but be warned, they’ll cost coins to revive them. You’re given one free revive but that’s it.
The fighting itself might not be on par with Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter or Injustice but it should make for some great gaming. If you’re looking for a decent fighting game or if you’re a big fan of the series, then go download it! Spartacus Legends is available for FREE through Xbox Live or PSN.
