It won’t take PC long to outperform Xbox One and PS4, says Battlefield 4 Dev

The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are coming out this year near parity with the most modern of high-end gaming PCs.  Both new consoles will see a significant jump in processing power and speeds.   Both are increasingly capable in delivering visuals on par with powerful gaming rigs, but it might not be long before PCs have a significant edge on the new consoles, according to a Battlefield 4 developer.

We’re excited but it won’t take long before PC can do even more

“Naturally we’re very excited now seeing consoles that actually close in on what the PCs of today can do – even though it won’t take long before the PCs can do even more,” explains Karl Magnus Troedsson in a recent issue of Game Informer magazine.

DICE has long been a developer that takes full advantage of the PC.  Their most recent example was Battlefield 3.  A game that was widely known to be superior on the PC from visual fidelity standpoint, and featured both larger maps and player counts on the PC due to restraints from both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

While it’s highly unlikely that Battlefield 4 on PC and next-gen platforms will have huge differences, we may start seeing the PC break away from the pack for their next installment of the Battlefield series.
