Angry Birds Star Wars II Launched!

Angry Birds Star Wars II, Rovio’s seventh title in the Angry Birds series has launched today simultaneously on Android, iOS and Windows Phone 8. The game apparently has the largest character roster out of any game in the Angry Birds series and with the option to “Join The Pork Side”, players can now play as both- birds and pigs.

This game marks the introduction of TELEPODS by Hasbro, which combines physical and digital gameplay by allowing players to teleport physical Angry Birds Star Wars toy characters into the mobile and tablet versions of the game.

Jami Laes, EVP Games, Rovio Entertainment, had the following to say on the official launch announcement –

“Angry Birds Star Wars II combines the rich worlds of both Angry Birds and Star Wars™ in a unique way featuring fan favorite characters from both the dark and light side of the Force. We have taken the gameplay to a whole new level, giving our fans the option to play as both the birds and the pigs. We are also excited to introduce the amazing new TELEPODS from Hasbro. For the first time ever our new characters will not only appear in future game updates, but also on store shelves. We’ve heavily invested in the longevity of the franchise and have great updates already lined up for the coming months.”

The game is a prequel to the original Angry Birds Star Wars and is hence set in the period of the prequel trilogy and will introduce Angry Birds versions of iconic prequel trilogy characters like Darth Maul, Mace Windu, etc.
