Microsoft has announced the next installment of the Halo series of games.  343 Industries will release Halo 5: Guardians in the fall of 2015.

“Halo 5: Guardians is a bigger effort than Halo 4,” reads a post on the Xbox Wire.  A bigger game in terms of content and scope, 343i says that “there are some core elements carried over from prior games, but we’ve invested a huge effort in retooling our tech to take full advantage of the Xbox One’s hardware and ecosystem to create worlds and experiences worthy of next-gen.”

Very little about the game was revealed on the Xbox Wire, other than that the game will run a new engine at 60 frames per second, and feature dedicated servers.

Microsoft promised that there would be something for Halo fans this year.   With Halo 5 officially confirmed for next year, that rumored Halo 2 anniversary edition is starting to look like more and more of a possibility.
