PSN Back Online, Personal Information not compromised in attack

Things seem to be getting back to normal on the PlayStation Network, nearly a full day following an attack on the service.  Alongside a number of other major networks, hackers targeted PSN with a DDOS attack which overwhelmed Sony’s servers, crippling the network in the process.

According to Sony, the outage was taken offline due to a distributed denial of service attack (DDOS).  The company claims that there is “no evidence of any intrusion”, and that there is “no evidence of any unauthorized access to users’ personal information.”

Sony has announced that the previously scheduled PSN maintenance for August 25th has been rescheduled for a later date.

Other online networks were shuttered on Sunday.  Popular services like Battle.net and League of Legends were hit with DDOS attacks alongside the PlayStation Network due to reasons unknown.  A couple of different hacking outfits attempted to take credit for the downtime.

Sony says that they will announce a date for the rescheduled maintenance shortly.
