A clip from CNN’s NewsNight with Abby Phillip has gone viral. The segment featured a panel discussing White House aide Natalie Harp and letters she reportedly wrote to President Donald Trump.
Amy Robbins, identified as CEO of Alexo Athletica, said Natalie Harp should be the poster child for modern-day feminists. Robbins called Harp a hard worker and resourceful person who climbed the corporate ladder and sacrificed to reach one of the highest positions in the country.
Adam Mockler, host of The Adam Mockler Show on YouTube, responded that, “She quite literally devotes all of her time and energy to one single man”.
CNN panel discusses Harp’s reported letters and career dedication
The discussion began after a clip of New York Times White House correspondent Maggie Haberman. Haberman said people in the president’s world have noted that Harp does not do much outside of work and works constantly for him. Haberman described her as a binky, or comfort blanket.
Such devotion to a political figure can lead to unusual situations, as seen when Kash Patel was heading to his girlfriend’s Chicago concert on the FBI jet but top Trump officials pulled him back to the White House. Robbins said everything Haberman mentioned showed Harp should be seen as a feminist example. Robbins added that Harp did not even sleep or eat as she advanced.
Abby Phillip, host of NewsNight, said not sleeping and not eating, writing unhealthy-sounding notes to your boss, and never doing anything else in the world sounds like somebody who needs an intervention. Phillip added that people who love and care about Harp probably should ask her how she is doing.
Mockler said this is not a double standard and not a case of a close inner circle. He stated this is definitely not a case of feminism and that it made him sad reading these letters. Mockler said Harp seems to have a unique attachment to Donald Trump.
Mockler continued that feminism is not giving away your entire life to write sappy messages saying that you’re sorry 100 times or acting like you have Stockholm syndrome for some reason. He said feminism is fighting for your own equality or pushing for women to have equal rights.
Mockler asked Robbins if she could at least admit that it feels like a really weird situation. Robbins said she will admit that this is odd and that it is odd behavior. HuffPost reported that Mockler referenced fawning letters Harp allegedly sent to Trump in 2023. This kind of intense focus on one figure is not unique, as seen when Trump called Abdul El Sayed a man of hate and El Sayed fired back.
