Head of Xbox Phil Spencer has laid out Microsoft’s big plans for Xbox One in September. They include launching the game console in 29 new markets, including China, Japan, and Russia. Along with the system come an array of launch titles such as Forza Motorsport 5, Dead Rising 3, and Ryse: Son of Rome.

28 additional countries will get to experience the games and entertainment on Xbox One for the very first time

The Xbox One originally launched on November 22nd 2013 in North America, Australia, Brazil, and some European countries. This means that these markets have waited almost a year for Microsoft to release the system in their territory. While the Xbox and Xbox 360 never did perform well in Japan it is still surprising to see them have to wait so long considering they are one of the largest markets for games in the world.

Even with the Xbox One only being available in a few countries it has still performed well with an estimated five million sales worldwide. While this is only half what their main competitor PS4 has sold at this time, it is still a great start to the new generation of consoles. With exclusive titles like Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Sunset Overdrive coming in the next few months along with the launch in 28 new countries, we could see a sales surge for Xbox One this holiday season.

One other country was mentioned in the news post. Argentina will be getting the Xbox One some time soon, but Microsoft says they will “have more to share on our launch plans shortly”.

The full schedule of Xbox One launches is below:
