Super Smash Bros. Set To Bring Back Veteran Pokemon As DLC

Super Smash Bros. for 3DS came out three weeks ago today, but we are getting ever closer to the release of the version on the Wii U as well, which even more are excited to play. We were told before by Masahiro Sakurai that the rosters would remain the same, so when the 3DS version came out, we figured that might be it for the game, but the special Super Smash Bros. for Wii U themed Nintendo Direct revealed that wasn’t quite the case as a veteran fan-favorite will be returning after the release of the game.

During the Direct, it was revealed that those who purchase both the 3DS and Wii U versions of the game will receive a free returning character with Mewtwo, the Psychic Pokemon. Not only will you get Mewtwo for the Wii U version, but also the 3DS. Registered as the 150th Pokemon, Mewtwo starred as the lead of the first Pokemon movie and was arguably the most powerful Pokemon in the original Red & Blue.

There was no indication on how Mewtwo will be accessible if you only happen to buy the Wii U version or the 3DS version, but he will be available for download sometime this coming spring. Hopefully this is only the first DLC character for the game of many, but with the time it takes to make each, it could be the only one.
