If you have already pre-ordered your digital copy of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U from the Nintendo eShop then you can begin pre-loading the game in anticipation of its release on November 21st. This will let you start playing the game much faster when it gets released at midnight rather than waiting to download the whole game along with everyone else. If you can’t or don’t want to buy the game from the eShop then there are a few ways to buy the game in order to be able to pre-load.
We’re offering new buying options that let you pre-load most of the Super Smash Bros. for Wii U game before it launches.
Nintendo explains, “If you pre-order on Nintendo.com, we’ll send your download code within 72 hours of the game’s launch. You can then redeem online or manually to pre-load the game. That means you’ll be able to play after a small game update when it’s officially released.
You may also pre-purchase directly from Nintendo eShop on your Wii U console and pre-load the game from there, OR purchase a download code from select retailers and pre-load to your Wii U console.”
The specific statement that “most of the game” will be pre-loaded is interesting. Exactly how much of the game will be held up for final release could change how quickly you are able to start playing after midnight. Of course, there might also be day one patches or updates to fix any issues found shortly before release.
And, of course, you can always just buy a physical disc version of the game and start playing as soon as you insert it into your Wii U. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will be available on November 21st.
