Bloodborne has been out for a few weeks now and has garnered top tier reviews in that time since. With the punishing gameplay and dark environment that people expect from From Software, Bloodborne is one of the first true system sellers for the PS4. It’s about time for the monthly NPDs to come out to see just how the game sold in its first week or two of release in the US, but we have gotten some numbers from Japan that show just how well it is doing over there.
According to Siliconera, it was previously revealed that Bloodborne had sold 152,567 copies in its first week in Japan, where the game released on March 26. This number was not quite as high as with the Dark Souls series in Japan, but still rather impressive. The more telling statistic though is the sell-through rate so far in Japan.
Based on numbers from Media Create, 87.06% of the shipment in Japan has been sold through. This is a good sign for From Software and Sony, with the game not only selling quite well, but likely helping to sell consoles as well. It will be interesting to see what the comparison of sales from the rest of the world will be once those numbers are released this week.
