A new interview with Tetsuya Nomura has confirmed that QTEs/reaction commands won’t be in Kingdom Hearts 3.
Dengeki Online (via KHInsider) interviewed Tetsuya Nomura recently about Kingdom Hearts 3. He talked a little bit about the changes in gameplay.
Dengeki asked Nomura if reaction commands have been removed for boss battles in Kingdom Hearts 3. Nomura confirmed the removal and said they are making the combat “more challenging“. He said all actions are to be “based on good or favorable timing“.
Nomura also confirmed that QTEs (quick time events) are not in Kingdom Hearts 3 anymore too. They felt there were too many of those “flashy” battles in Kingdom Hearts 2. This time, they want to make the combat feel more rewarding from the sounds of things.
Kingdom Hearts 3 is sadly one of those games that have been in development for a long time, but with no release date in sight. The game was first announced at E3 2013 and it doesn’t appear like the game will be out soon.
Square Enix has a ton of great games in the pipeline including Kingdom Hearts 3. We still have to wait for Final Fantasy XV to come out, and now fans are pumped for the recently announced Final Fantasy 7 remake too.
