Retailer Advertises Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain As A Hideo Kojima Game

Official Konami advertisements may not acknowledge that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is made by Hideo Kojima, but this didn’t stop a retailer from crediting him.

A fan from Sydney, Australia took a photo from JB Hi Fi. As you can see above, they have put up a sign that says it’s a “Hideo Kojima Game”.

What’s even more interesting is that Hideo Kojima himself retweeted this photo on his official Japanese Twitter account. He too feels he should be credited, even though Konami wants to pretend that he never existed.

An official reason why Hideo Kojima and Konami are no longer friendly towards one another is still unknown. Some second hand reports state that Konami were upset that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was taking so long to develop. They also didn’t like how expensive the budget for the game was as well.

This reason could be partly true since Konami cancelled Silent Hills earlier this year much to the dismay of fans. Silent Hills wouldn’t have been cheap either with Guillermo Del Toro and Norman Reedus on board for the project too.

Anyway, it’s great to see that JB Hi Fi in Australia has acknowledged Hideo Kojima’s efforts on Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. It would be cool if other retailers did something similar.
