Hopefully by now you’ve read our full review of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Perhaps you’ve even bought it yourself and found the joy one can gain by fultoning out enemies, storming a Russian base, and the many other things players can do in the game. We’ve all certainly been having fun with the game, so Will and I sat down to discuss our thoughts in a more broad and overall sort of way.

Will did our initial review, giving the game a perfect five out of five stars, saying “Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will go down as the best-looking, best-playing, and most ambitious game in the series.” This is all, without a doubt, completely true.

However, after my ten plus hours with the game I had a few issues that I wanted to discuss. Mainly the seeming lack of a coherent story, and the possibility that the open-world nature of the game might do more harm than good.

Overall I think the open style of gameplay is a plus, but I certainly yearn for the more streamlined experience of MGS past. Losing it is unfortunate, but when it gives you such a dynamic experience it feels worth the sacrifice in the end.

Check out the video and let us know if you agree or disagree, and please forgive my terrible stealthing.
