Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens is not even out yet, but pre-order ticket sales in Australia have already eclipsed over $1 million.
Disney sent over a press release confirming that the $1 million in pre-order tickets sales was reached in just four hours after tickets went on sale earlier today.
Midnight screenings for the film have already sold out and extra sessions have been added to keep up with demand. We can be sure that The Force Awakens could be breaking records in lots of other countries too.
“Judging by the unprecedented ticket pre-sale numbers for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, it’s clear that The Force is strong in Australia,” said Catherine Powell, Managing Director, The Walt Disney Company Australia and New Zealand. “Whilst we expected significant interest from the many passionate Star Wars fans in this country, we are delighted with the overwhelming response from Australians who want to experience the next chapter of this epic story during opening weekend and beyond.”
Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens releases on December 17th over in Australia and New Zealand. The film then opens a day later in North America on December 18th. It is sure to be the biggest movie this upcoming Holiday season.
