PlayStation Exec Admits PS4 First Party Exclusives Were Not As Strong In 2015

Managing Director of Sony Computer Entertainment Australia, Michael Ephraim, recently admitted the PS4’s first party lineup was not as strong as it could have been in 2015.

During an interview with Gamespot, Ephraim reiterated that 2015 was a good year for third party partnerships for the console. The games that were advertised heavily for the system included Destiny, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and Star Wars Battlefront.

He then added that this Christmas will still be good for PlayStation as demand is still strong for the aforementioned games. The third party partnerships were good for Sony in 2015.

However, the interesting comment Ephraim made is that he said “our first party lineup was not as strong as we would have liked” in 2015. He was referring to Sony published AAA video games.

This year, the PS4’s first party lineup included The Order: 1886 and Bloodborne at the beginning of the year. In August, Until Dawn scared audiences. There were a few decent downloadable games like Helldivers and Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture just to name a few.

2015 had a number of re-releases such as God of War 3 Remastered, Tearaway Unfolded and Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection. Ephraim feels 2016 will be stronger with Uncharted 4, GranTurismo Sport, The Last Guardian and more are out.
