We don’t yet have the full patch notes, but Microsoft has announced that an Xbox One update will be issued today. It will contain a number of “behind the scenes bug fixes”, presumably fixing some of the smaller problems and glitches in the Xbox One OS. However, unlike some of the bigger and more well-received updates in the past, this one won’t introduce any new features for gamers to enjoy.
Those bigger updates usually hit once a month, though the New Xbox One Experience kind of shook up that schedule to a degree. That massive update introduced Backwards Compatibility and a number of other big feature changes, on top of the overall user interface modifications that changed the entire console experience. Since its introduction it seems that the big, game-changing updates have slowed a bit, but that shouldn’t last too long.
Still, it’s good to keep getting updates, even if they don’t give us anything new to play with. The Xbox One is a fairly stable system, with few big problems lingering in its OS at this time. The NXOE did introduce a few of its own though, so Microsoft has been using the last few updates to iron out those wrinkles.
Expect to be prompted to update your Xbox One later today, unless you have auto-updates enabled of course.
