Pokemon is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the series in a number of ways, both big and small. One of the bigger ways is bringing the series back to its roots, releasing the original Game Boy games on the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. Pokemon Red, Pokemon Blue, and the modified and enhanced Pokemon Yellow will all be hitting 3DS on February 27th. To get fans ready for the impending release, Nintendo UK has revealed a new trailer for the games, which you can check out below.
If you’re a long time fan of the series then this trailer should take you all the way back to 1996, showing off the original games in all their monochromatic glory. You can also check out the enhanced Pokemon Yellow, with its muted colors seeping into the experience, along with the many other modifications that were thrown in.
These classic games will certainly please fans, but they should also be a great place for newcomers to the series to check out its origins. The latest games in the series have changed so much from these, that it would be a bit difficult to go back and try them out, but would certainly be really fun for many.
