Nintendo has announced a new Nintendo Direct live event that will air this Friday, February 26th, at 7 a.m. PT / 10 a.m. ET. The video will be focused on the Pokemon series, with little other info revealed at this time. The only other piece of info, which was confirmed later, is that the presentation will only last five minutes, meaning it could be something big, or a few trailers for things we already know about. This year is the 20th anniversary for the series, which first launched for the Gameboy on February 27th, 1996 in Japan.

With such little to go on, speculation has begun about what big announcements could be coming from Nintendo and The Pokemon Company. There are a lot of already announced 20th anniversary celebrations coming, such as the mythical Pokemon giveaways going on right now, which they could elaborate on a bit. However, many fans are anticipating something a bit bigger.

Pokemon Z, the highly anticipated, yet not announced followup to Pokemon X & Y is the top billed item on most fan’s lists. Pokemon games in the past have launched with two main versions, followed by a mixed up new game that enhances some elements and adds a few of its own. We’ve see this with Pokemon Yellow and Emerald, just to name a few. Whether this is announced during the Nintendo Direct or not, there is plenty more to discuss.

Pokemon Go, the mobile game where you catch Pokemon in real life locations, is coming at some point this year. We could get a full rundown of the game, and a possible release date. No matter what happens, expect some big Pokemon news to come out of the Nintendo Direct this Friday.
