The Xbox One DVR functionality that was announced last year at Gamescom has apparently been scrapped, according to a report from The Verge. Â While the feature did sound like something useful for the all-in-one console, it looks like Microsoft would rather spend their resources and attention on rolling out gaming related features.
“After careful consideration, we’ve decided to put development of DVR for Over-the-Air TV on hold to focus our attention on launching new, higher fan-requested gaming experiences across Xbox One and Windows 10,” says Microsoft. “We’re always listening to fan feedback and we look forward to bringing more requested experiences on Xbox One, Windows 10 and Xbox Live this year.”
The DVR functionality was supposed to arrive in 2016 and it was supposed to be able to record over the air broadcasts.
With E3 just around the corner, we’ll likely be hearing what the future holds for the Xbox One. Â Microsoft holds their annual press conference on Monday June 13. Â We expect the company to continue with their strong games-first message at the show.
