Pokemon Go is available right now to download for users over in Australia and New Zealand. The roll-out for the game will be in stages so you may have to wait for it to come if you live elsewhere.
If you live in Australia and New Zealand, Pokemon Go is out for both iOS and Android. The initial download is only around 50mb and the game uses your device’s GPS system.
I managed to have a little go at it and it’s quite unique. The first thing you have to do is create your trainer. Much like in the normal Pokemon games, you can choose to be either a girl or a boy.
The customization options are limited as you cannot really change their clothes outside of the colors. You can alter their skin color and the look of their bag. After you have done that, you are prompted to catch one of the starter Pokemon.
The three Pokemon presented to you at the start are Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle. Once you choose your starter, you have to physically move around to find more Pokemon in your area. I had to go to my local park and church to seek out other Pokemon.
Update: Here’s how to download Pokemon Go on iPhone as some people had a hard time finding it. Go to the app store and type in “Niantic Inc”. It should come up as one of the apps. It was easy for me to find on Android as you just type in “Pokemon Go” via the Play Store.
