Konami has released a lengthy new trailer for the upcoming Metal Gear Survive, which puts its focus on the story and single-player campaign, as well as showcasing some of the gameplay mechanics of this survival take on the Metal Gear Solid V world. In fact, the game reuses many elements from Hideo Kojima’s final game with the company, including the graphic style, sounds, and designs. However, the project has sparked some controversy among fans for introducing zombie-like creatures and other monsters, who feel out of place even in a series that has always flirted with science fiction.

The story opens with the survivors of MGSV’s Mother Base being transported through a wormhole to another dimension. As one of the survivors, players are tasked with gathering resources, planning and building a new base, or searching for other members of the crew like doctors or soldiers who could be useful in this situation. The video also shows a variety of ways to fight zombies, from fire arms and other traditional weaponry, to explosive arrows and traps that push the creatures over a cliff. Players can even create small wormholes to transport defense equipment and to drive a variety of vehicles.

If you want to try the game before its official release, Konami is running a beta for PS4 and Xbox One from January 18 to January 21.

Metal Gear Survive lauches on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on February 20, with the title releasing in Europe two days later. Watch the new trailer below.
