Bandai Namco’s Code Vein still doesn’t have a concrete release date, but those interested in the current state of the game will be happy to know that it’s set to get a closed network test later this May.

To recap, Code Vein is an amalgamation of God Eater and Dark Souls that was announced back in April 2017. It was poised to launch in Sept. 2018 following months upon months of advertising and updates, but then announced in July of the same year that it would be delayed to 2019 in order to “further refine its gameplay in an effort to exceed the expectations fans already have of the title.”

Unfortunately, it’s been the same way ever since, with just about no updates save for a New Year’s image made to the celebrate the start of 2019 on Twitter.

Thankfully, the coming of this turn of events changes things, even suggesting that the game might not be as far off as many would have thought. And while they wait for that, they’ll even be able to participate in the closed network test and get a taste of what the game might play like when it finally arrives.

As for when the network test will actually be held? All that’s known is that it’s coming in May. If you’re interested, simply head to the network test’s website then put in the relevant information and you’re set. If successful, you’ll be able to create your own character, play through the game’s opening segments, as well as an online co-op dungeon.

Here’s to hoping you get to participate — and that it will all be worth the wait.
