XCOM: Enemy Unknown looks to be right in the wheelhouse for classic strategy fans. Â With Firaxis on board, and the developer seemingly content on keeping much of the original gameplay intact, strategy fans will have their hands full when the game releases later this year. Â Sid Meier and company are looking to draw in “action” players to the new title as well.
“There are cool elements of all those gaming styles in XCOM,” Meier told Game Informer. Â “Our goal would be to really appeal to all those players, and to introduce them maybe to some gaming that they haven’t played before. Â An action gamer might play the game for the action aprt and think, well strategy is pretty fun too. Â It’s not trying to conform to a genre, but trying to find ways to bring this topic to life in the most fun and exciting way possible.”
