Today, Valve announced the Steam Mobile App for iOS and Android. Â The mobile application of the popular online gaming network gives users the opportunity to chat with Steam friends, browse community groups, view user profiles, game media and other content from the popular games on the Steam network.
The Steam Mobile App is currently in beta form, and upon its release Gabe Newell had this to say: Â “Seeing which of your friends are online and playing a game, sending quick messages, looking at screenshots for an upcoming game, or catching a sale – these are all features customers have requested. Â Mobile is changing the way people interact, play games and consume media, and the Steam app is part of our committment to meet customer demands and expand the service functionality of Steam to make it richer and more accessible for everyone.”
Valve has begun to roll out the beta client for the application, and can be downloaded at the Apple App Store and Android Market. Â Once downloaded you’ll need to login with your Steam credentials via the app, to signal your intent to join the beta. Â Valve says as the service “ramps up” more gamers will be continually added.
