Halo Infinite: 343 Explains How Battle Pass Progression and Challenges Will Work

Recommended Videos

343 details in a new blog post every way Halo Infinite players will be able to gain XP, progress in the battle pass, and earn rewards with various and diverse options.

Even though Halo Infinite won’t include per match XP, 343 has explained in detail how the game will still include various engaging avenues for players to earn XP including Daily Challenges, Weekly Challenges, and more. 343 has also promised that it has heard the community feedback regarding the seemingly limited in scope progression system of Halo Infinite, and the need for an incremental Match XP system similar to that of Halo 5’s that will feed into the Battle Pass progression. While the changes won’t be available at launch, 343 is promising to keep on evolving the experience in future post-launch seasons.

According to the Halo Waypoint Blog, the primary progression path in Halo Infinite will be the Challenges. By completing challenges in-game, players will earn XP points, and that will be tied directly to the Battle Pass which will offer a wide range of customization options, XP boosts, and Challenges Swaps. Players will have both Weekly and Daily Challenges, offering a wide variety of ways for players to progress in their battle pass.

Weekly Challenges will be more direct and specified, each week players will have 20 new challenges to complete out of 100’s of options. These weekly challenges will be unique to every player and common challenges between some players are to be expected. The amount of XP from every challenge will vary, but the total amount of XP from all weekly challenges will be common between all players. When players complete all the weekly challenges they will be met with the Capstone challenge, which will be common among all players. Completing the Capstone challenge will grant players a unique Weekly Ultimate Reward. Daily Challenges will encourage engagement and be more focused on granting players XP consistently. Players will start out with Stage One challenges, which will be easy to complete and will even count with Bot Arena matches. Moving forward to Stage Two, players should expect more XP but for more specific tasks that require PvP matches. Stage Three is the hardest and will require actually winning multiplayer matches.

Challenge Swaps will allow players to swap only weekly challenges, and by using it, players will be able to only choose a challenge of the same tier as the one they are swapping out. They will be obtainable via the Battle Pass, Event Pass, Store Purchase, and even via promotions and partnerships. Finally, XP Boosts will be offering players Double the XP for any challenges they complete, both weekly and daily. They are currently set to last around 30 minutes, but 343 is currently considering different durations for launch. They will be obtainable from the Battle Pass, Event Pass, Store Purchase, and various promotions.

Halo Infinite will also have timed special events separate from the battle pass. These free special passes will have separate and special rewards including unique armor and other customization options, they will last from one to multiple weeks varying from one event to another. At launch and during Season One of Halo Infinite Multiplayer will be known as Fractures: Tenrai, this event will be available for all players for around one week. Players will be able to obtain the Samurai armor core Yoroi. The event will be available to all players and every time the Fractures event returns, players will be able to continue their progression towards unlocking all of its 20 tiers.

Halo Infinite is releasing on December 8, 2021, and both the paid campaign and free multiplayer will be available on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox Game Pass
