New Splatoon Weapon or Mechanic Reveal

Splatoon is certainly one of Nintendo’s most interesting games set to release in 2015, serving as a completely brand new IP for the Wii U. The gameplay looks like a blast thus far with plenty of details being shown off since its reveal during the Nintendo Digital Event around E3. While we may not get a release date yet, though it is possible, is seems more likely for us to learn something new about the game with some sort of new mechanic or weapon that we haven’t seen yet.

NES Remix 3 or SNES Remix

During early 2014, we got the release of both the first NES Remix and NES Remix 2 within a period of only a few months, followed by the retail release on Wii U as well as a smaller version on 3DS last month. With the critical reception of the NES Remix games so far, Nintendo is bound to have another in the works and it would make perfect sense to give us the first details in this Direct. Whether this is a NES Remix 3 or even a SNES Remix, I know I will be getting this game as soon as it releases based on the previous two titles in the series.

Upcoming Virtual Console Additions

Nintendo has had a pretty slow go at adding games to the Virtual Console, especially on bringing back the Donkey Kong Country trilogy that other countries have gotten or even Metroid: Zero Mission on GBA. This would be a good opportunity to reveal a release date of a few of the most anticipated games, or even do a “these will be available at the end of the Nintendo Direct in the eShop” unveiling.

Wave 3 amiibo Release Date Details/Wave 4 Reveal

The next wave of amiibo are set to arrive next month, with most retailers listing a date of February 1. However, that is far from official as we’ve yet to hear for sure and Wave 2 was pretty sporadic overall with releases. Also, it seems possible we could see the reveal of which amiibo will make up the eventual fourth wave. Will it be the rest of the Super Smash Bros. roster only or could we finally see others like Captain Toad and such make an appearance? Only time will tell.

Full amiibo Restocking

This is definitely one of the most unlikely on the list to see during the Nintendo Direct, as it is not looking good for many of the rarest amiibo to ever see another production cycle. However, maybe Nintendo will surprise us and announce a steady supply of amiibo like Marth, Wii Fit Trainer, and Villager will be coming to give us collectors a sigh of relief.

Second Super Smash Bros. DLC Announcement

Another dream announcement for this Nintendo Direct, a second DLC announcement for Super Smash Bros. would be quite epic to see. Whether it is the return of someone like Ice Climbers exclusively for Wii U or even a brand new fighter to the series, any announcement to go alongside Mewtwo would be fantastic. However, with the way Masahiro Sakurai has talked in the past, this may sadly be only a pipedream.
