11.NBA Jam: Tournament Edition
Not really an Easter egg, but definitely worth a mention. The SNES was amazing for cheat codes, but none as great as NBA Jam. The list of unlockable characters’ ranged from Bill Clinton to the Fresh Prince of Bel Air. This was also an option on the Wii version, where you can unlock numerous politicians and have them fight it out. BOOMSHAKALAKA!
12.COD Black Ops: Play other games!
In COD: Black Ops, if you tap LT and RT whilst in the chair and type ‘Zork’ into the computer, you get to play Activision’s text based adventure, erm, Zork. In Call of Duty Black Ops II, shoot the heads of the mannequins in the Nuketown 2025 map in under 90 seconds and you get to play a host of old school Atari games. Value for money or what?
13. Life is Strange: License Plates
In Life is Strange, take a closer look at the license plates of each vehicle that Max encounters. Each one is representative of a well-known American show. Check out the parking lot in Episode One and you will find BRKBD(Breaking Bad), THWR(The Wire) and PRKSNRC(Parks And Rec). See how many you can guess!
14. Tomb Raider: Dead Indy
There are many, many Indiana Jones references in Tomb Raider, but none as dark as in The Last Revelation, in which you come across a skeleton in the ruins of Angkor Wat. The skeleton has a hat and whip lying next to it, indication that a certain Mr. Jones might have been there first.
15. Metal Gear Solid: Psycho Mantis
What is this wizardry? Psycho Mantis appeared to reach into your mind and know everything about your gaming habits when you encounter him in the game. However, Konami had added a neat trick allowing them to scan your memory card saves and have Psycho Mantis communicate them to you so it was like he was in your head.
This is a very condensed list of secrets, we are sure that you have more to add so please do in the comments below!
