NES Remix/NES Remix 2 ($14.99/$14.99)

Wii-U-21

I thought about including this under the physical releases from 2014, but unlike Wii Sports Club, there are really no changes in the retail release. NES Remix and NES Remix 2 take old classics from the NES era and turns them in little mini-games to enjoy in spurts. at only $14.99 each, there are tons of games to experience here and are the perfect type of games to wind down before going to bed while playing on the GamePad.

Shovel Knight ($14.99)

Wii-U-22

While recently announced as coming to PlayStation 4, Shovel Knight has been nominated for many awards this year and for very good reason. A love letter to the classic gamers from the 8 bit era, Shovel Knight is an absolute blast to play, with the level of difficulty you expect from a game like this. This is one game that absolutely cannot be buried.

Virtual Console (Prices Vary)

Wii-U-23

This one is a little different from the rest, as it has a number of games that you can find under it. The Wii U library of Virtual Console games has been growing slowly but surely. One of the standouts of the bunch is Earthbound, which finally hit the Virtual Console earlier this year after many licensing snags prior. Duck Hunt will also be joining the system on Christmas Day, which will utilize the Wii Remote instead of the NES Zapper of course. There are tons of other classics from franchises like Mario, Zelda, Metroid, and more from the NES, SNES, and even Game Boy Advance, so make sure to check them all out.
