Don’t Fight Every Enemy
As soon as you start Bloodborne, you will likely have a desire to try and kill every enemy you see. This is a good idea at first, as you need to collect blood echoes that can be soon used for a variety of different things. However, there is a very good chance that you will start to die with frequency, especially if you are a beginner. Until you unlock more shortcuts, you will be playing through the same areas over and over again, to where it could easily cause you to get burnt out on the game entirely. The solution for this one is also our next tip…
Run, Run, Run
For anybody new to the Souls series, you will very quickly learn that it will become a necessity to run past enemies in Bloodborne at times, especially when replaying through the same areas after dying again and again. By holding down circle, you can dart past most enemies, especially in the early goings. At the very start, one segment that may continually frustrate gamers is located near a large bonfire with tons of enemies. This is an excellent area to run past after you have gotten your fill of killing and collecting blood echoes. Running does use up stamina, but it surprisingly does not go down very fast and replenishes at a very rapid rate, allowing you to run past most areas.
Open Shortcuts
The method of fast travel found in Bloodborne is through the lighting of lanterns in areas that you can then warp to from the Hunter’s Dream hub. However, these lanterns are few and far between and with lots of backtracking at times to find special items or even bosses, you will also want to be on the lookout for shortcuts. These shortcuts are done in a few different ways, with the most common being you opening a gate to a previous area through a mechanical switch. There are also some shortcuts that can be made by opening doors to houses or sending elevators for later use. Shortcuts are going to be an amazing time saver and are bound to help you, especially in the early segments.
Figure Out Item Drops
Bloodborne has a decent number of different items that you can buy or collect during the game, but the most important of those are easily going to be Blood Vials and Quicksilver Bullets. These can of course be bought at the Hunter’s Dream for a price, but it is much more efficient to try and take them from the corpses of enemies instead. As a result, you must learn just what kind of enemies will drop specific types of items. They are not completely guaranteed, but typically the larger giant like enemies will almost always drop Blood Vials, while gun toting enemies will drop Quicksilver Bullets. With the ability to force certain ones to respawn after fast traveling back and forth from the Hunter’s Dream, you can easily rack up and fill your inventory with the max number of each, especially with Blood Vials.
Memorize Locations
This tip somewhat ties into a few of the aforementioned ones, as you will definitely want to try and memorize as much of the map of Bloodborne as you can. With a dark and desolate world as found in Bloodborne, this can be difficult at times. However, there are lots of different markers and memorable locations that you should be able to keep in the back of your mind at least. This can be useful to help you figure out how to get to areas quicker or maybe know where to return an item to a survivor at. Maybe most importantly, you can remember where certain enemies are that you may want to avoid or need to get back to in order to get your lost blood echoes from.
Spend Your Blood Echoes To Level Up
Another vital tip for Bloodborne is to make use of your Blood Echoes and level up accordingly. It would probably be a wise decision to try and maintain yours stats to where one doesn’t get massively higher than the rest, though you can make decisions like whether or not to increase stats like Bloodtinge and such. Leveling up will make things much easier in the long run for you, especially against the early bosses.
Don’t Be Afraid To Grind
Building upon the previous tip, our final tip for Bloodborne is not to be afraid to grind for awhile. This is not something that you have to do, but with infinite respawns on the enemies in the game, you may want to find a good trek in the game with enemies that you handle with no issue, so you can obtain a lot of blood echoes. These can then be used to level up, buy items or weapons, and more as said above. This also helps with obtaining the ever useful Blood Vials and Quicksilver Bullets from the previously mentioned enemy types.
