It has a very specific use, and you might miss it if you’re not careful. Here’s what to do with the Spinal Control Unit in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.

Spinal Control Unit Location

The Spinal Control Unit can be found in the Quarantine Zone in the very first chapter of the game. About halfway through the chapter, Star-Lord will be separated from Rocket and Groot as they’re exploring the area. After defeating a handful of weak enemies on your own, you’ll be free to explore the Quarantine Zone solo. You can find this item off the beaten path before reuniting with the group.

What is the Spinal Control Unit Used For in Guardians of the Galaxy?

When you pick up the Spinal Control Unit, the game will say “New Guardian Collectible Found” and inform you that Rocket might have something interesting to say about it back on the Milano. This is a Guardian Collectible, which can unlock unique dialogue with each of the crew members. There are 16 Guardian Collectibles in the game, one per chapter.

The Milano acts as a hub between chapters, giving you the chance to talk and catch up with the crew. The Spinal Control Unit unlocks unique dialogue with Rocket, so stop by his room on board the ship and interact with it to start the conversation.

There are plenty of hidden collectibles to find throughout Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, so keep your eyes peeled and make use of Star-Lord’s visor to catch any secrets you might be missing. From crafting components to new costumes, there’s a lot to be found in this adventure.
