Duffer Brothers caught with two suspicious tabs open while writing Stranger Things 5, fans are convinced they know what happened

This is even wilder than the Conformity Gate theory.

Fans just got a new documentary about the making of Stranger Things season five, and they already found something interesting. Viewers looked closely at a scene showing the Duffer Brothers’ computer screens while they were writing the ending. What they saw has led to a strange new fan theory.

The behind-the-scenes look, called One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5, came out on January 12. Fans watched it carefully and noticed something on the screenwriters’ laptops in one scene. It wasn’t the drama that got their attention. It was what was showing on their computer screens.

According to Unilad, fans believe the show’s creators, Matt and Ross Duffer, were using ChatGPT and Reddit while writing the final script. People spotted these tabs open on their laptops during the documentary. This simple glimpse was all the proof fans needed to create their own theories.

The AI writing debate has fans seriously worried

This discovery made fans react strongly on social media. One fan pointed out the Reddit tab, and another replied, “Maybe he was checking out fan theories for inspiration?” People were especially concerned about the possible use of AI for writing the script. One person asked, “So they really used chatgpt for this script? Wtf.”

Some fans tried to explain it differently. One viewer suggested the brothers might have been checking if their ideas matched popular fan theories so they could avoid using them. Another joked, “Duffer Brothers really saw ‘fan theories’ trending and went ‘hold my script rewrite’.”

The show ended after five seasons, and many fans had mixed feelings about the finale. One big issue was Eleven’s fate, played by Millie Bobby Brown. Did she actually die? Only Brown and the creators know for sure, which keeps fans guessing. Viewers have been searching for hidden finale clues ever since the final episode dropped.

The idea of the Duffer Brothers using ChatGPT to write the ending seems unlikely. They spent a lot of time writing and filming season five. That’s not something you just give to AI to handle. The creators have made bold storytelling choices before, including when they considered giving Vecna a redemption before deciding against it.

The Duffer Brothers have said before that they knew how the show would end long before they wrote the finale. If that’s true, they wouldn’t need Reddit to help them figure out the story or decide what happens to their characters. Still, fans will keep making theories about Stranger Things even after the show is over.
