On January 19th, North American 3DS owners will be able to download game demos directly to their handhelds. Starting off with a demo of Resident Evil: Revelations and Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games, via the eShop.

“The demo program allows Nintendo 3DS players to be among the first to test-drive select games,” said Tony Elison of Nintendo of America. “Players can try out new genres or series, often weeks before the full versions are available in stores.”

Other demos that are soon headed to the eShop include Rayman Origins and Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D.
