Many PlayStation 4 games have been getting patches that allow for enhancements when playing them on PlayStation 4 Pro, and the latest one will be for the remasters of earlier Arkham games. The game is Batman: Return to Arkham, with the patch adding visual upgrades along with a variety of performance and stability improvements. The announcement was made on the WB Games forum, with the community manager claiming that the update will provide increased visual fidelity when playing on PS4 Pro.
Other improvements will be coming to the game as a result of this patch, which includes “Performance / hitching issues have been improved for a more smooth and consistent framerate” and “Intermittent crashing issues have been addressed to provide improved gameplay stability.” You can check out the forum post by clicking right here.
For those who don’t know, Batman: Return to Arkham is a collection of remasters that includes Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City. Along with the updated visuals also comes all of the DLC released for each game, though Arkham Origins was not included in the collection. Reports have been mixed regarding how much of an upgrade (if at all in some situations) these remasters bring to the table, though you can check out a comparison video by clicking right here.
Despite Batman: Arkham Knight being the last main entry in the series that developer Rocksteady will make, this year has nevertheless kept the series in the limelight. Along with the aforementioned Return to Arkham, they also released a Batman: Arkham VR game exclusively for PlayStation VR. You can check out our review of the game by clicking right here.
As for what’s next for Rocksteady, the developer said earlier this year that everyone on the team agrees that it’s time to do something outside of the Batman universe next. There was a teaser at the end of Arkham Knight that suggested that the series could continue in some form, but it does not look like they will have anything to do with it.
