Battlefield 4 is top priority of DICE, Bad Company 3 on back burner

by William Schwartz

Battlefield 4 is the main focus of DICE right now, and rightfully so. With Battlefield 4 due out later this year, it’s not surprising that most of the developer’s resources are invested in the success of their game that is closest to launch. While Battlefield fans are certainly anticipating the release of Battlefield 4, there’s a large sect within that community that want to see DICE return to the Bad Company storyline.

Unfortunately, DICE isn’t working on any Bad Company games, and have confirmed this via Twitter. When asked about the possibility of Battlefield: Bad Company 3, the official Battlefield Twitter account relayed the following: “We love the Bad Company series, but don’t have it in active development. Battlefield 4 is our main focus for the year.”

That’s not to say we couldn’t see Battlefield: Bad Company 3 in 2014 or beyond, but it doesn’t look like DICE has plans for it. They’ve got bigger fish to fry right now. Of course Battlefield 4 is on deck. But there’s also that new Star Wars title that EA recently announced, but DICE L.A. will be handling that one. If retail leaks hold true, they’ve also got Mirror’s Edge 2 in the works, which makes their plate pretty full at this point.

We’ll have to wait and see what shakes out for the future of Battlefield: Bad Company 3, but for now Battlefield fans, you’ll just have to be content with Battlefield 4. DICE will be showcasing Battlefield 4 multiplayer at E3 2013.
