Chad Lowe’s family called 13-year-old Fiona ‘the light of our lives’ as they announced her death with a message for anyone who is struggling

Actor Chad Lowe and his wife, Kim Painter, are mourning the death of their 13-year-old daughter, Fiona, whom the family described as “the light of our lives.” The couple first shared news of her passing on September 29, and Los Angeles Medical Examiner records show she was pronounced dead at a hospital on Tuesday.

As reported by Page Six, the records list her cause of death as suicide. The family shared the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline in the statement announcing her death.

“We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona,” the family said in the statement. They described her as a loving, smart, and creative young girl who loved to dance, and asked for prayers and privacy.

Fiona was clearly at the center of the Lowe household

Fiona was the second-oldest daughter of Chad and Kim, who are also parents to 17-year-old Mabel and 10-year-old Nixie. The statement noted that she was adored by her sisters and deeply loved by her parents, and the announcement circulated amid the same news cycle as a longtime Costco employee’s wages.

Chad, known for his work on Pretty Little Liars, has often shared his pride in his daughters on social media. In a November post marking Fiona’s 13th birthday, he wrote, “Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!”

A source described Fiona as a “very well-liked student” who had “a lot of friends.” Her school sent an email to parents offering counseling resources to students and staff, though the message did not name the student who died.

Her grandfather, Charles “Chuck” Lowe, shared a photo of Fiona in a swimming pool on social media on Wednesday. “Rest in peace, sweet Fiona,” he wrote.

Anyone who is struggling can call or text the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, or text HOME to 741741 to reach the Crisis Text Line.
