Square Enix has presented today Cloud of Darkness as a new fighter for Dissidia: Final Fantasy NT, the online multiplayer fighting game that reunites the main characters of the RPG series. Cloud of Darkness is originally from Final Fantasy III, and it’s technically an entity without gender, even if it usually takes the appearance of a woman. As a fighter it offers a wide variety of attacks, although it’s most common to use it as a long-range fighter, with the difference that it’s faster than Ultimecia.

In the trailer the character can be seen appearing on the Floating Continent, the stage taken from FFIII, and showcasing its abilities against other enemies. Cloud of Darkness makes the 28th controllable character of the game, with the latest additions including FFXV’s Noctis and FFVIII’s Ultimecia.

Dissidia: Final Fantasy NT is an online multiplayer game that features battles between teams of three characters each. Fighters can receive the help from the franchise’s iconic summonings, including Shiva, Ifrit, Bahamut, or Alexander. A few weeks ago we posted our impressions of the closed beta, and since then the developers have presented a more helpful interface, easier to understand during battles.

Dissidia: Final Fantasy NT launches exclusively on PS4 in January, with different special editions available to pre-order now.
