Crysis 3 on PC will get extra “goodies”, says Crytek

by William Schwartz

Crysis 3 will offer high-end PC users extra “visual goodies” when it releases next year.  The original Crysis saw its start on the PC, and Crytek thinks that community is due its rewards, especially in the visual department.  “We’re definitely pushing the game a lot from a visual standpoint, and for sure there’s going to be visual goodies in it that you can only get if you have a super-high-end PC,” Crytek’s Rasmus Hojengaard recently told Spong.

“We’re definitely pushing the game a lot from a visual standpoint,”says Crytek“At the same time, we want to ensure if you don’t have a super-high-end PC, the game will still look amazing.  On top of that, we want to make sure the experience is not different from platform to platform,” Hojengaard continued.  Crysis 2 marked the franchise’s arrival on consoles with a release on the Xbox 360 and PS3 alongside the PC version of the game. Crytek came under fire from its community that is made up largely of PC players, when Crysis 2 was released, with accusations of dumbing down the game for sake of consoles.

Set in 2047, Prophet is on a revenge mission after uncovering the truth behind Cell Corporation’s motives for building the quarantined Nanodomes. The citizens were told that the giant citywide structures were resurrected to protect the population and to cleanse these metropolises of the remnants of Ceph forces. In reality, the Nanodomes are CELL’s covert attempt at a land and technology grab in their quest for global domination. With Alien Ceph lurking around every corner and human enemies on the attack, nobody is safe in the path of vengeance. Everyone is a target in Prophet’s quest for retribution.

Crysis 3 is set for release on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 ,and PC at some point in 2013.
