Atlus has announced today that Dragon’s Crown Pro, the upgraded version of the acclaimed side-scroller adventure is finally coming to Western markets on May 15. The game is launching on PS4 and it will cost $49.99 USD / $64.99 CAD in North America. Compared to the original release, ‘Pro’ doesn’t add many gameplay changes, focusing mostly on technical improvements with new 4K visuals and a re-orchestrated soundtrack. Plus it will offer cross-play with PS3 and PSVita users and a system to import save data from those versions.

Developed by Odin Sphere makers Vanillaware, Dragon’s Crown revives the traditional medieval side-scrolling adventures by offering the same fun and thrilling gameplay everyone remembers from classic titles and introducing a gorgeous visual design in 2D and a wide selection of different characters including a Warrior, an Elf, a Wizard, or a Sorceress. The story shifts from the castle used as a base of operations and then takes the action to each of the game’s dungeons, each with their specific atmosphere, backstory, enemies, and bosses.

Those who pre-order the game will secure a copy of the Battle-Hardened Edition, which includes a steelbook and seven postcards recreating the game’s skill cards. Also those who want to treat their loved ones with a very special message can send a personalized Valentine’s day card featuring images from the game.

The announcement has been made on the same day that it arrives to Japanese stores, so it will be interesting to check out the game’s success in next week’s Media Create charts.
