Free and DLC are two terms that are rarely associated with one another.  Whether it be weeks or months down the line, most downloadable content comes at a cost, but EA is shaking things up with Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare.

The Xbox One/Xbox 360 competitive and cooperative shooter is getting free downloadable content with the “Garden Variety Pack”.

The Garden Variety Pack for Garden Warfare will arrive on March 18th for the Xbox One and Xbox 360 with a new 8v8 multiplayer mode, new ability upgrades, and a new map.

It’s not a tune that EA usually sings with their post-launch content.  Perhaps with Garden Warfare, EA is turning over a new leaf, and showing some goodwill for a change.
