The PS3 recently celebrated its 10th anniversary earlier this month, and Famitsu decided to do a little celebrating of their own. The popular Japanese gaming publication asked their readers what they felt were the greatest games the console had to offer, and they broke it down into a list of 30 games.
What perhaps is most surprising is that the #1 game is From Software’s Demon’s Souls, which was the game that kicked off From Software’s incredible run of fantastic Souls games. While certainly a fantastic game, considering how everyone fawns over The Last of Us it’s surprising to not see that one take the top spot.
It came close, however, taking the #2 spot with another Souls game in Dark Souls taking spot #3. The fact that Final Fantasy XIII made it so high on the list isn’t really a surprise considering how popular the genre and the series in general still is in Japan, though it is surprising that Uncharted 2 only managed to reach the #9 spot. The following is the complete list of games that Famitsu readers declared the best games on the PS3, as well as how many votes they each got:
- (1) Demon’s Souls (288)
- (2) The Last of Us (241)
- (3) Dark Souls (216)
