Square Enix seems to be planning a special re-release of Final Fantasy XV for PS4 and Xbox One, as a new version of the game called Royal Edition has appeared on ESRB’s website. The Entertainment Software Rating Board is the organization that reviews the content of each release in order to give them an official rate and inform consumers of any possible mature images included. While this release hasn’t been officially announced yet by Square Enix, the fact that it’s been rated by the Board indicates that it is indeed launching in a short time.
The name Royal Edition suggests that this could be a special version of Final Fantasy XV containing all the downloadable content released in 2017 and included in the season pass. We are talking of three single player expansions focused on Gladio, Prompto, and Ignis, and an online multiplayer mode called Comrades. Aside of that, the main adventure has been patched with more features such as switch characters in battles, off-road driving, and extra scenes, although these have been launched for free for all owners of the game.
The release of this version could coincide with the launch of the Windows Edition of the game, which has already been confirmed to include the same content of the season pass. The game has been confirmed to keep receiving new content in 2018, but so far Square Enix has not made clear whether they will be unlocked by the original season pass or will be releases separately.
Final Fantasy XV is available now for PS4 and Xbox One.
