GOTY 2011

This year more than any other, there were so many good games to choose from, making our decision for our Editor's Choice for Game of the Year to be an extremely tough one.  In a lot of cases, we were simply comparing apples to oranges with only a few common threads between titles like Batman: Arkham City, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Uncharted 3, and Portal 2.

This year more than any other, there were so many good games to choose from, making our decision for our Editor’s Choice for Game of the Year to be an extremely tough one.  In a lot of cases, we were simply comparing apples to oranges with only a few common threads between titles like Batman: Arkham City, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Uncharted 3, and Portal 2.  While there were definitely others taken into consideration, these were the titles that kept making a case for themselves with each subsequent playthrough.

In the end though, Valve’s blend of magnificent story telling, humor, and rock solid gameplay on both the single and multiplayer fronts left us with their game continually edging out the competition,  in our eyes.  While it may not get the recognition that a Half Life 2 gets from the fans, Portal 2 is probably the developer’s best work as a whole, and that’s saying alot considering the long line of popular titles from Valve.

readers-choice

As for our Attack of the Fanboy readers, your Game of the Year was an unequivocal nod to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.  With almost 45% of the reader votes, The Elder Scrolls V edged out the likes of Uncharted 3, Battlefield 3, and Batman: Arkham City for the win.  Thanks to all who took the time to vote for our Reader’s Choice in 2011.  Hopefully, we’ll see you voting next year as well and wish you all a Happy New Year and great gaming in 2012.
