Guy casually walks into Brighton pub during open mic night, then audience loses it when they figure out his real identity

A legend showed up unannounced.

Music fans in Brighton got the shock of their lives when Pink Floyd legend David Gilmour showed up at a local open mic night. You wouldn’t expect a real guitar hero to just walk into an old pub, but that’s exactly what happened at The Neptune Inn on Hove’s Victoria Terrace.

According to Mirror, this pub is well-known as a great place for live music, and the crowd was completely shocked when Gilmour walked to the front of the venue. He wasn’t there by accident, though. The famous musician was actually “crashing” his daughter Romany Gilmour’s performance.

This wasn’t just a quick hello and a wave. The father and daughter played several classic Pink Floyd songs together, turning a normal open mic night into an amazing concert. People in the crowd couldn’t believe they were hearing famous The Dark Side of the Moon songs in the small, packed venue.

This surprise performance was truly something special

The two performed beloved hits like Breathe (In The Air), Time, and the beautiful Breathe (Reprise). The surprise show had a practical reason behind it too. Gilmour later said the performance was part of a warm-up tour he was doing before his bigger UK tour.

He shared the news online, saying he “very much enjoyed crashing @GilmourRomany’s gig at the Neptune in Hove this evening after finishing tour rehearsals…” You have to love this kind of commitment. It’s a big deal because this surprise show was Gilmour’s first live performance in four long years, since May 2020.

Family moments like these remind us of surprising celebrity revelations, like Jackie Chan’s father’s shocking confession that changed everything for the action star.

Gilmour isn’t the only huge British artist who loves giving fans a low-key surprise. It seems like the trend of crashing random events is definitely becoming more popular. Earlier this year, Ed Sheeran decided to shock people in New York City with a surprise subway performance.

Sheeran went for a much more hidden look than Gilmour, though. If you’d like to try this yourself, you’ll need a good disguise. Sheeran wore an “emo” outfit with a black hoodie, large sunglasses, black cargo pants, and a grey beanie.

He even wore a wig that completely hid his famous red hair. Despite the undercover look, his unique voice and amazing talent were easy to recognize, and he drew in a crowd quickly. Speaking of recognizable voices and faces, there’s been buzz about a teacher who looks and sounds like a famous celebrity in his viral videos.
