Recent reports have surfaced that outlined a new attack on Sony and possibly the PSN network when it finally does come back online.  Apparently the claims come from an IRC chat channel where hackers are plotting to retrieve customer information from the network’s servers, and release the information into the public.  The source reports that the attack will take place this weekend.

With anonymous having taken many routes in retaliating against Sony, its unclear at this juncture whether the attacks will be directed at Sony web properties, PSN, or the SOE servers.  The hackers that were discovered chatting about the upcoming attacks claimed to still have access to Sony’s servers, even after the recent security precautions have been put in place.

PSN is expected to be back online before the week is out.  Hopefully, the efforts that Sony has made in the last couple of weeks will have fortified the network to the point that this doesn’t happen again.
