As expected, StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm has been confirmed for the MLG Winter Season via two invitation only competitions. The first of these competitions will be on February 4th with the “Online Winter Season Showdowns” that features 56 of the top StarCraft II players in the world getting surgical with their RTS skills prior to the public release of the expansion. The Online Tournament will be broadcast beginning on February 4th through March 8th.
The second is the Exhibition Tournament at the Pro Circuit Winter Championship in Dallas, TX in March. From the 15th to the 17th, the Winter Championship will feature an invite-only, 32 player Heart of the Swarm tournament.
Blizard’s StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm is due to arrive in mid-March on the PC and Mac. The first expansion content for the real-time strategy title, Heart of the Swarm features a new campaign that continues the story of Sarah Kerrigan as the Queen of Blades, and her fight against Arcturus Mengsk. The expansion features a brand new single player storyline, as well as a numerous new units and features for the multiplayer side of the game.
