Cryptocurrency entrepreneur Brock Pierce flew to Trump’s Miami-area golf resort last week to unveil a 22-foot golden statue of the president called “Don Colossus.” According to The New Republic, Pierce cut the ribbon on the statue in front of a crowd at the event, which drew attention from the public and sparked debate online.
Pierce is a former child actor who has built a career in the digital currency space. He co-founded several cryptocurrency companies, including the Bitcoin Foundation, and was ranked by Forbes in 2018 as one of the top 20 richest Bitcoin billionaires in the world.
However, Pierce’s presence at the event brought renewed attention to his past ties with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who had invested in the cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase alongside Pierce. A 2012 email exchange also surfaced in which Pierce mentioned having a “great time with the girls,” which has raised questions about the nature of their relationship.
Pierce’s Epstein ties make his appearance at Trump’s golden statue unveiling hard to ignore
Epstein’s connections to the Trump administration have also been widely documented, though Trump has publicly distanced himself from the late financier. Pierce’s attendance at the event, which brought these associations back into public view, made it a high-profile moment for those following both men’s histories.
New photos shared on social media showed Pierce cutting the ribbon for the golden statue at Trump’s golf resort. The statue depicts the president in a triumphant pose and drew significant attention due to its size and appearance. Epstein’s case continues to draw public interest, and evidence quietly removed before his mansion was raided remains one of the most discussed aspects of the investigation.
Beyond cryptocurrency, Pierce has also been involved in American politics, running for president in 2020 as the Independence Party candidate. He currently focuses much of his time on philanthropic work in the Caribbean region.
Pierce also has an ambitious project in the works – converting a Portuguese ocean liner into a hotel and museum to be permanently stationed in Lisbon. “We have 180 people working on the boat right now to turn it into a five-star hotel, but with regular rooms on the inside – all classes – and to effectively be a museum permanently stationed in Lisbon,” he said of the project in 2021.
Questions around Epstein’s death also continue to surface, with his brother challenging the authenticity of the suicide note adding further controversy to the case. The unveiling of the “Don Colossus” statue served as a gathering point for various supporters and associates within the Trump business circle, and the reaction to the event online has been intense, with both supporters and critics voicing their opinions across social media platforms.
