The release date for Marvel’s Midnight Suns is getting pushed back to the latter half of 2022. Contrary to the congratulations for “an amazing launch” that they’ve sent their way to fellow Marvel IP developers that are responsible for Guardians of the Galaxy, The development process for Firaxis’ tactical roleplaying game is suffering some hiccups along the way.
Promotions for Marvel’s Midnight Suns started as early as August, with the release of an announcement trailer that showed off rendered cutscenes and events that took place within the game. Gameplay footage released back in September would indicate its gameplay to be in a similar vein to the series that Firaxis is known for developing, XCOM, albeit with more roleplaying elements thrown in to place more emphasis on the various Marvel superheroes that will be featuring in the game.

This momentum does not manage to carry itself forward however when the Developer’s announced a delay on the release of the game via Twitter, the developer cited the reasons behind such postponement to be due to a need to give the game better polishing and to ensure that they are capable of realizing their full creative vision without compromise to the overall quality of the game.
As such, the game’s release window is being pushed back to the later months of 2022, compared to the originally announced date of March 2022. For players who are interested in the particular brand of strategic real-time games that Firaxis are known for making, or the people who are invested in Marvel IPs and its further push in bringing well-known superheroes and characters to the video gaming genre. This news comes as a call for potential consumers to exert patience and to wait for the game to come to fruition.
It is now up to Firaxis and the people responsible for marketing this game to keep up player interest through those extra months that they will be spending during extra development. Though it is good to note in the meantime however that the team’s previously stated that the game will not feature any loot boxes, and will monetize the game using microtransactions for cosmetics only.
In other news, for players who are interested in snagging all the cosmetics that they can for the game, the official website of the game is offering an exclusive Blade Nightstalker skin for those who sign-up for newsletters using a 2K account.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns is set to be released in the second half 0f 2022 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
