Nintendo loves their special hardware, with unique 3DS and Wii U releases for various games in the past. As the 3DS winds down its long life fans might have thought they were done with these sorts of releases, but apparently not. A Metroid themed New 3DS XL is coming, Nintendo announced this morning, and the awesome looking hardware will hit just in time for Metroid: Samus Returns.
September 15th is the release date for both Metroid: Samus Returns and the New 3DS XL to go with it. The design is definitely pretty slick, featuring Samus in a pretty classic pose, with the colors to match her iconic armor.
We don’t have pricing info, but expect it to be fairly standard for the New 3DS XL, which currently retails for around $200. As usual with Nintendo hardware, if you are really interested in getting one you might want to be quick about getting a preorder in. Nintendo is pretty infamous for hardware shortages, as evidenced by the Nintendo Switch, which is still almost impossible to find over five months after launch.
We’ve seen a lot of these New 3DS XL sets sell out quickly, reaching high prices from resellers. Don’t get left out.
