Sony and Microsoft are off to great starts with the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Both companies are reporting record-breaking sales for the new hardware. And while Microsoft is happy about the being the top-selling console per the recently released NPD data, one company spokesperson wants the online hate to go away.

Sony will sell a ton. We will sell a ton. Consumers have a choice.

Responding to fans on the Reddit page for Xbox One, Major Nelson thinks that fans should be celebrating, not fighting.

“Both new platforms are off to a great start. We all should be celebrating a healthy vibrant industry. Sony has done a good job and they should be commended. The hate that infects gaming in the online space needs to go away.”

Major Nelson says that both consoles will continue to do well, and that it’s a good thing that consumers have a choice. “Sony will sell a ton. We will sell a ton. The industry is doing well…and consumers have choice.”

That said, when the tables were turned last-generation. Sony caught a lot of heat from the online community for various missteps with the PlayStation 3. We certainly didn’t hear any of this sentiment from Microsoft back then.
