2K Sports has recently announced that MLB 2K13 will arrive on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on March 5th. Tampa Rays pitcher David Price will be the cover athlete for the game, and 2K will once again be offering fans the chance to compete for cash in the $1 million Perfect Game Challenge.
2K baseball fans can breathe a sigh of relief, as it wasn’t clear if the franchise would be returning in 2013. There had been rumors that the licenses required to make such a game, would not be renewed by Take Two. It looks like they’ve got things ironed out, but there has been some downsizing to the franchise.
Jason Argent of 2K Sports had this to say in the Press Release: “We’d like to thank our league partners for their support in helping us reach an agreement to bring back MLB 2K. We know fans are extremely passionate about the MLB 2K series and the Perfect Game Challenge.”
The announcement also details that The $1 Million Perfect Game Challenge will be seeing some changes as well. Being the fourth consecutive year that 2K has offered fans the opportunity to win this massive cash bounty, they say that the contest will have a “new format with exciting ways to win.” In the announcement, 2K did not mention whether the game would arrive on any platforms other than the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, so it looks like they may be targeting these two core systems exclusively.
